Next.js follows semantic versioning. Major versions are released on average twice per year, minor versions more frequently, and patch versions very frequently. Important security patches can be backported to past major versions, but it’s not clear which past versions are supported or not on https://nextjs.org/.
Next.js has two release channels: stable and canary. Only stable releases are suitable for production.
You should be running one of the supported release numbers listed above in the rightmost column.
