Apache Kafka does not have a clearly defined release and support policy. Nevertheless, looking at the 3.x releases, there have been a minor release every four months and up to three minor releases have been supported at the same time. This is somewhat following what is documented on the Apache Kafka wiki, but there was unfortunately no formal announcement.

Considering that this page only marks the latest minor release as supported and marks other releases as EOL on the latest date between the first next minor version release date and the current minor latest release date.

Extended support for 2 to 3 years, depending on the support level, is available using the commercial distribution of Apache Kafka, Confluent Platform.

The full list of versions, with their associated release notes, is available on the Apache Kafka website.

You should be running one of the supported release numbers listed above in the rightmost column.

You can check the version that you are currently using by running:
${KAFKA_HOME}/bin/kafka-topics.sh --version

You can submit an improvement to this page on GitHub :octocat: . This page has a corresponding Talk Page.

A JSON version of this page is available at /api/apache-kafka.json. See the API Documentation for more information. You can subscribe to the iCalendar feed at /calendar/apache-kafka.ics.
